ATHENS CO FLASH FLOOD WATCH 4AM, MON 7/4 TO 4AM TUE 7/5, WATCH FOR CHANGING WEATHER CONDITIONS!

Flash Flood Watch

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ATHENS COUNTY FROM 4AM MONDAY, 7/4 UNTIL 4AM TUESDAY, 7/5.

THE POSSIBILITY OF REPETITIVE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXIST DURING THE WATCH TIME FRAME. AS IS USUAL WITH SUMMER CONVECTION, THERE WILL BE LULLS IN THE PRECIPITATION. IF RAINS OF 2 TO 2.5 INCHES FALL IN LESS THAN 3 HOURS, SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS WOULD RISE QUICKLY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

IF YOU LIVE ALONG A FLOOD PRONE SMALL CREEK, PLUS COUNTY AND STATE OFFICIALS, INCREASE YOUR WEATHER AWARENESS. MONITOR WATER LEVELS FREQUENTLY DURING ANY HEAVIER RAIN. BE PREPARED TO TAKE QUICK ACTION.
